At bunny.net, we have always operated with a singular, ambitious objective:
"Help make the internet hop faster."
To turn this vision into reality, we have deployed a massive infrastructure encompassing 119+ global locations. This network currently supports more than 1.5 million websites, ensuring that content is delivered with industry-leading speed across the globe.
While the sheer volume of hardware is impressive, the physical servers aren't the only reason for our performance. The true "secret sauce" is our routing engine—the intelligence that directs every single user request to the most efficient destination.
🛠 From Internal Tool to Global Powerhouse
Originally, Bunny DNS was developed as an internal mechanism to create the most sophisticated routing engine possible. Its job was to analyze DNS queries in real-time and steer traffic toward the optimal server. This engine remains the backbone of the exceptional performance seen in Bunny CDN.
About four years ago, we decided to productize this technology. We transformed DNS from a static "phone book" of records into a globally distributed, intelligent routing system.
What makes it "Smart"?
Unlike traditional DNS, Bunny DNS allows developers to utilize:

💸 Why we are removing the cost
Managing infrastructure costs is already a headache for developers. We believe that worrying about pricing tiers or fearing a massive bill due to a sudden traffic spike shouldn't be part of the process.
If our goal is a faster internet, the fundamental layer that connects users to services should not be treated as a premium add-on.

- Free hosting for up to 500 domains per account.
- No query limits or per-request billing.
- Full access to premium features (Smart Records & Health Monitoring).
Note: To keep the lights on, all bunny.net accounts are still subject to our standard $1/month minimum spend, but the DNS service itself no longer generates usage-based costs.

Moving your DNS to us is now easier than ever:
- Automatic Zone Scanning: Our system scans your domain for common record types and reconstructs your zone automatically.
- Manual Import: If you prefer, you can simply upload a standard BIND file.
