What is Vite+?
Today we are thrilled to introduce the beta of Vite+, a comprehensive, unified toolchain designed for the web. Rather than forcing developers to piece together a fragmented ecosystem, Vite+ integrates a suite of best-in-class tools into a single, tested stack.
The Integrated Stack
Vite+ acts as the glue for the following technologies:
| Tool | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Vite | Frontend tooling & Dev Server |
| Vitest | Testing framework |
| Rolldown | High-performance bundler |
| tsdown | Library bundling |
| Oxlint | Fast JavaScript/TypeScript linting |
| Oxfmt | Rapid code formatting |
| Task Runner | Built-in, monorepo-aware execution |
The project is fully open source (MIT License) and remains framework-agnostic, meaning it is equally capable of powering CLI tools, libraries, or complex web applications.
"Vite proved that sensible defaults combined with a focus on speed could revolutionize the developer experience. Vite+ extends this philosophy to the entire development lifecycle."
A Consistent Workflow
Stop wasting time configuring your toolchain from scratch for every new repo. With Vite+, developers use a standardized set of commands regardless of the project:
vp devLaunches a development server with Hot Module Replacement (HMR), powered by Vite 8.vp checkA "one-stop shop" to format code viaOxfmt, lint viaOxlint, and perform type checking.vp buildGenerates production-ready assets using Vite 8.vp packBundles libraries using industry best practices viatsdown.vp runExecutes any npm script through an intelligent, caching, monorepo-aware task runner.
Why this matters
As organizations scale, maintaining version alignment across dozens of repositories becomes a nightmare. Vite+ ensures that tool versions stay synchronized. It is the ideal solution for developers who are tired of manual assembly and teams seeking a consistent internal platform without the overhead of maintaining one.
Note: Vite plugins remain compatible, and you can still use your preferred underlying package manager.
Evolution: From Alpha to Beta
Since the alpha launch, the community has been instrumental. We have merged over 500 pull requests and shipped more than a dozen versions.
Key Beta Improvements:
- Intelligent Caching:
vp runnow utilizes automatic data tracking and Vite metadata, removing the need to manually define environment variables or I/O. - Enhanced Migration:
vp migrateis now more flexible and includes prompts specifically designed for AI agents. - Enterprise Grade: Added organization templates for standardization and support for custom-CA/proxy-aware HTTP requests.
- OS Hardening: Improved stability across various shells and operating systems.
- Polish: Over 180 bug fixes and refinements landed in
vite-plus.
This progress is the result of a global core team working in the open. You can explore the full release history.
The Ecosystem Grows
While Vite+ was being built, the individual tools in its stack also evolved:
- Vite 8.1: Introduced an experimental "full bundle mode."
- Rolldown 1.0: Launched with a revamped plugin system and significant performance gains.
Real-World Traction
Vite+ is seeing rapid adoption, with over 1,300 public repositories already depending on vite-plus.
Notable Adopters:
- Dify: LLM application platform.
- critical: Addy Osmani's CSS tool.
- BlockNote: Notion-style editor for React.
- vinext: Vite-based Next.js compatible framework.
- zerobyte: Self-hosted backup automation.
- agentsview: Svelte-based analytics for coding agents.
- Inkline: Multi-framework UI library (Vue, React, Svelte, etc.).
"At npmx, every millisecond counts. Vite+ has improved our community's life by accelerating the dev experience, CI pipelines, and the review process." — Daniel Roe, npmx
The Path to 1.0
While stable, Vite+ is still evolving. We encourage adoption if the current feature set meets your needs. Our roadmap to the 1.0 release includes:
- Implementing Remote Caching for
vp run. - Creating
setup-vpfor GitLab CI/CD. - Expanding compatibility for various Vite plugins and frameworks.
- Increasing the number of supported migration targets.
- Launching an official Homebrew formula.
- Improving diagnostic clarity and documentation.
Get Started with Vite+ Beta
