Shinjuku Station in 3D
Shinjuku Station: A 3D Visualization
This project provides a three-dimensional representation of Shinjuku Station, moving beyond flat 2D layouts to a spatial model.
🛠️ Development Process
The creation of this model involved the following steps:
- Source raw geospatial data
- Process indoor mapping coordinates
- Render 3D geometry
📊 Data Provenance
The visualization was developed by modifying specific datasets provided by the Japanese government.
| Entity | Dataset Name | Access Link |
|---|---|---|
| Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) | 新宿駅周辺屋内地図データ | Geospatial Japan |
Source Attribution: This work was created by processing the "Indoor Map Data around Shinjuku Station" provided by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
📐 Technical Implementation
To transform the data, the spatial coordinates were treated as vectors in a 3D Cartesian system:
The data pipeline can be visualized as follows:
The underlying data structure follows a format similar to this:
{
"location": "Shinjuku Station",
"dataset_id": "mlit-indoor-shinjuku-r2",
"dimension": "3D"
}
Note: The mlit-indoor-shinjuku-r2 identifier is used to reference the specific version of the geospatial data.
