2026 Fields Medals

Fields Medal

The International Mathematical Union (IMU) has announced the recipients of the 2026 Fields Medals. This prestigious honor is designed to celebrate exceptional mathematical contributions based on previous achievements and the potential for future breakthroughs.

"The Fields Medal is awarded to recognize outstanding mathematical achievement for existing work and for the promise of future achievement."

Financial Sponsorship

The funding for these medals and their accompanying monetary prizes is provided via a trust created by J.C. Fields at the University of Toronto. For the 2026 cycle, these funds have been further augmented by the generous contributions of the Fields Institute.
