On July 28, 2026, Jorijn Schrijvershof (@jorijn) announced a difficult but definitive decision regarding the future of the toot.community server.
The Announcement: The server will permanently shut down on October 28, 2026. This is a final decision; there will be no transfer of ownership to another party.

Jorijn cited a combination of mental exhaustion and the systemic nature of modern social media as the primary drivers for this closure. The burden of administration has become unsustainable.

- Emotional Toll: The disproportionate amount of energy required to manage a few "bad actors" has left Jorijn feeling discouraged and angry.
The Financial Reality
While the community was supportive, the math simply didn't add up: Consequently, Jorijn had to personally absorb the majority of the financial expenses, time, and legal/administrative responsibility.
