Kukuroo: Self-Hosted Web Push via Cloudflare Workers (iOS Compatible)

Kukuroo is a specialized, self-hosted web push worker designed specifically to bring notifications to iOS devices via GitHub.

Critical notifications that require immediate action should not be buried within the noise of a Discord server, a Telegram channel, or a crowded email inbox.

Traditionally, the only way to get a custom alert onto a lock screen was to develop and ship a full native application just to display a single line of text.

The Experience

Imagine your iPhone lock screen on Thursday, 7 August at 9:41:

  • Task W13 finished →\rightarrow→ W14 is unblocked and ready to start now
  • Watchlist →\rightarrow→ Omnium Cargo is down 14% (9m ago)
  • Deploy finished →\rightarrow→ kukuroo.cc is live (25m ago)
  • New post →\rightarrow→ Moving to the US because I'm too rich (1h ago)

No server to keep alive. Your encryption keys remain securely within your Worker, and every payload is encrypted specifically for the destination device.

🚀 Rapid Deployment & Usage

You can trigger a push notification in a matter of seconds from any running agent the moment a process concludes or requires input.

Sending a Notification

Use a simple curl command to send your data:

$ curl -X POST https://push.example.com/push/send \
  -H "authorization: Bearer $KUKUROO_SEND_TOKEN" \
  -d '{
    "notification": {
      "title": "Task W13 finished",
      "body": "W14 is unblocked and ready to start",
      "navigate": "https://push.example.com/"
    }
  }'

Response: {"delivered":1,"removed":0,"failures":[]}

One-Click Integration

The setup process takes less than sixty seconds. A single command handles the following:

  1. Writes the Worker code.
  2. Generates and installs all necessary keys.
  3. Provisions the required storage.
  4. Deploys the service.

The Enrollment Flow

Kukuroo is designed to mount directly into your existing router rather than demanding its own dedicated Worker. Devices enroll using your specific hostname, ensuring that tapping a notification leads exactly where it should.

🛠️ Technical Requirements

To ensure a stable experience, Kukuroo intentionally supports a limited environment.

Prerequisites

  • Platform: Cloudflare Workers.
  • iOS: Version 18.4 or later.
  • macOS: Safari 18.5 (supported if needed).
  • Standard Safari Tabs: Not Supported\text{Not Supported}Not Supported (Apple requires the page to be added to the Home Screen and opened from the icon).

Note: Other browsers are intentionally blocked at the enrollment stage to prevent "half-working" installations.

💰 Scaling and Costs

Cloudflare Workers and Web Push are a perfect match. For most individuals, the free tier is more than sufficient.

PlanMax Devices per SendDaily Request LimitMonthly Cost
Free501×1051 \times 10^51×105$0
Paid10,0001×1071 \times 10^71×107$5

Whether you are managing a few personal alerts or scaling to thousands of devices, the infrastructure remains lightweight and efficient.
