🚀 Tasklet (YC P26) is Seeking a Head of Design Engineering

Location: San Francisco, CA (In-Person) Role: Head of Design Engineering

Tasklet is pioneering the AI infrastructure that allows enterprises to operate their entire business via autonomous agents.

🎯 The Mission

At its core, Tasklet transforms plain-English descriptions of desired outcomes into actual execution across a company's various software ecosystems. Whether the work happens instantly or runs 24/7 in the cloud, the goal is seamless productivity.

We aren't building just another chatbot; we are building tools for real-world business. In this environment, intelligence is a baseline, but trust, simplicity, and controllability are the real challenges.

The Product Logic

💰 Compensation & Perks

The impact of this role is immense, and the rewards reflect that.

ComponentRange / Detail
Base Salary$300,000 →\rightarrow→ $450,000
Equity0.35%→0.70%0.35\% \rightarrow 0.70\%0.35%→0.70%
BenefitsMedical, Dental, Vision, 401k
Perks4 weeks PTO, complimentary daily lunch

🛠️ The Role & Responsibilities

As the Head of Design Engineering, you will own the holistic product experience. You aren't just designing screens; you are inventing the language of human-agent collaboration.

Your core mandates include:

  • End-to-End Ownership: Ensure the entire platform feels coherent, intuitive, and aesthetically polished.
  • Hands-on Implementation: You will be a primary contributor to the production codebase.
  • Solving AI UX: Create systems to handle the "messiness" of AI, including:
    • Latency & Uncertainty
    • Permissioning & Error Recovery
    • Human-in-the-loop handoffs
  • Simplification: Deeply analyze complex backend systems to eliminate unnecessary UI steps.
  • Comprehensive Design: You are responsible for everything from motion and accessibility to copy and performance.
  • AI-Native Workflow: We expect you to use AI as a creative partner.
// Example mindset: Moving from "Feature-First" to "Experience-First"
const designPhilosophy = {
  focus: "Outcome over Interface",
  standard: "Beautiful & Functional",
  method: "Ship $\rightarrow$ Iterate $\rightarrow$ Polish"
};

🌟 Who You Are

We are looking for a rare hybrid: an exceptional product thinker who is also a top-tier frontend engineer.

  • The Founder Mentality: Ideally, you've started your own company or owned a major product from 0→10 \rightarrow 10→1.
  • Proven Authorship: Your portfolio should demonstrate work you actually built, not just projects you contributed to.
  • The "Final 10%" Obsession: You understand that the difference between "it works" and "people love it" is in the meticulous details.
  • AI Power-User: You use AI daily to accelerate your build speed and explore more design iterations.
  • High Agency: You are comfortable with shifting priorities and thrive in the ambiguity of a fast-paced startup.
  • Elite Pedigree: You could likely land a senior role at a major AI lab, but you prefer the autonomy and leverage of a small, winning team.
