Adafruit USB Type C CC Resistor Fixer
Adafruit USB Type C CC Resistor Fixer

🛠️ Product Overview
The Adafruit USB Type C CC Resistor Fixer (Product ID: 6323) is a specialized utility board designed to solve a common frustration with modern USB-C hardware.
The Problem
Have you encountered a USB-C device that simply refuses to power up or communicate when connected via a C-to-C cable, yet works fine with a USB-A to USB-C cable?
This usually happens because the device manufacturer skimped a few pennies omitted the two required Configuration Channel (CC) resistors. Without these, many USB-C power sources (like modern laptop ports) won't "see" the device and will refuse to provide of power.
"It's the only product we hope we can discontinue one day, sooner rather than later!"
⚙️ How it Works
This compact PCB acts as a bridge between a USB-C plug and a USB-C socket. It ensures the power source recognizes the connected device by adding the missing pull-down resistors.
Signal Flow
Key Features:
- Pass-through connectivity: For
Vbus,Ground, and the two primary data pins. - Integrated Logic: Adds the necessary resistors on the port side.
- Visual Feedback: Includes a power good LED to confirm connectivity.
- Form Factor: Can be integrated into a mis-designed port or spliced into a cable.
⚠️ Important Limitation: The plug pinout used here does not support high-speed pins or sideband wires. Therefore, this is intended for USB charging and basic synchronization, not for high-speed data protocols or specialty USB-C modes.
