Don't Wordle: The Inverse Word Game

Don't Wordle is a complimentary daily puzzle experience. While it shares a DNA with the famous Wordle, the objective is completely flipped: you do not want to find the word you must avoid guessing the hidden word.

"The goal is to keep as many valid words in play as possible without accidentally stumbling upon the answer."

🕹️ Gameplay Mechanics

You are granted six attempts. To succeed, you must use the feedback from each guess to narrow down the possibilities—but without actually hitting the target.

ColorMeaningStatus
GreenCorrect letter, correct spotMatch
YellowCorrect letter, wrong spotMisplaced
GrayLetter not in the wordAbsent

The Logic of Survival

The game is essentially a mathematical challenge of elimination. If WWW represents the set of all possible valid words, your goal is to ensure that: Remaining Words>0 and Guess≠Target\text{Remaining Words} > 0 \text{ and } \text{Guess} \neq \text{Target}Remaining Words>0 and Guess=Target

🛠️ How to Play

  • Enter a valid word.
  • Analyze the color clues.
  • Strategically pick words that eliminate options without hitting the target.
  • Use your limited undo credits if a guess puts you in too much danger.
// Example of a guess result
const guessResult = {
  word: "CRANE",
  feedback: ["gray", "yellow", "gray", "green", "gray"],
  status: "Safe"
};
