Court Jurisdiction and Case Overview
| Case Detail | Information |
|---|---|
| Court | United States District Court, Southwestern District |
| Location | Tempe, Arizona |
| Case Number | B19294 |
| Presiding Judge | Honorable Joan Kujava |
| Plaintiff | Mr. Coyote (Resident of AZ and surrounding regions) |
| Defendant | Acme Company (Delaware Corp; National Distributor) |
I. Statement of Claim
The Plaintiff, Mr. Coyote, is initiating a civil action for monetary damages against the Acme Company. The suit alleges gross negligence and product liability under the following legal framework:
Statutory Basis: Title 15 of the United States Code, Chapter 47, section 2072, subsection (a).
Mr. Coyote seeks restitution for:
- Severe personal physical injuries.
- Loss of professional earnings (as a self-employed predator).
- Significant emotional and mental distress.
The Plaintiff asserts that on eighty-five (85) distinct occasions, he acquired merchandise via the Defendant's mail-order service that proved defective or lacked sufficient safety warnings. These transactions are documented in Exhibit A. Because the Plaintiff is an independent contractor, he is eligible for Workmen’s Compensation not eligible for such benefits.
II. Incident Reports
A. The Rocket Sled Disaster
On December 13th, the Plaintiff received an Acme Rocket Sled via parcel post. The intended use was to facilitate the pursuit of prey. Upon ignition, the sled exhibited an extreme acceleration vector:
This jolt caused the Plaintiff's body to stretch violently, resulting in acute strain to the cervical and lumbar regions. The sled reached speeds that left a visible jet trail, eventually bringing the Plaintiff to a halt. However, when the target animal turned right, the Plaintiff found the steering to be critically flawed and the braking system to be nonexistent.
Medical Findings (Exhibit B): According to the report by Dr. Ernest Grosscup, M.D., D.O.:
"The patient suffered extensive tissue damage, multiple contusions, and various bone fractures."
Recovery Requirements:
- Full cranial wrap (excluding ears)
- Cervical collar/neck brace
- Partial or full casts on all four extremities
B. The Rocket Skates Mishap
To regain mobility during his recovery, the Plaintiff purchased Acme Rocket Skates. This product mirrored the failures of the sled: powerful propulsion attached to a fragile chassis with zero safety protocols.
The result was a high-velocity collision with a roadside billboard, leaving a perfect silhouette-shaped hole in the structure.
III. Explosives and Pyrotechnics
The Plaintiff has suffered countless accidents involving Acme explosives, including the Little Giant Firecracker and the Self-Guided Aerial Bomb. (Refer to Exhibit C: Acme Mail Order Explosives Catalogue).
Case Study: The Butte Maneuver
The Plaintiff attempted a complex tactical setup to capture his prey:
- He constructed a wooden spiral trough around a butte.
- The trough led to a specific target marked with a black X.
- Birdseed was placed on the X as bait.
The Plaintiff utilized the following item:
PRODUCT ID: Acme Spherical Bomb
CATALOGUE #: 78-832
DESCRIPTION: High-yield explosive with timed fuse.
Unfortunately, the fuse malfunctioned, detonating instantly. This resulted in:
- Aural Trauma: The left ear was fractured at the stem, causing it to dangle and emit a creaking sound.
- Follicular Damage: Whiskers underwent partial combustion, leading to an ashy, frazzled appearance.
Note: Material samples were sent to the University of California at Santa Barbara, but the cause of the malfunction remains unexplained.
IV. The Super-Jump Sandals
The Plaintiff further attempted to use the Acme Super-Jump Sandals. These are described as two sandals equipped with high-tensile milled-steel springs, compressed by a cocking mechanism and triggered by a lanyard.
The Setup:
- Attachment: Fixed to the side of a massive boulder.
- Position: Hind feet inserted; forepaw gripping the lanyard.
- Objective: To pounce on prey with maximum reflex speed.
As the prey approached, the Plaintiff carefully calculated the distance and pulled the lanyard...
