OBS Studio 33.0.0 Release Notes

@github-actions

The latest iteration of OBS Studio has arrived. This update brings significant backend architectural changes, refined user interface interactions, and expanded hardware support.

🚀 Major New Features

Browser Framework Update

The Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF) has undergone a massive leap.

Note: This is a backend update that should be transparent to the end-user. However, if you encounter any "weirdness" with your browser sources or docks, please report it immediately!

The version shift can be represented as: CEF 127/6533→150/7871\text{CEF } 127/6533 \rightarrow 150/7871CEF 127/6533→150/7871

Plugin Architecture Overhaul

The way OBS handles plugins has been completely redesigned to improve organization and stability.

UI & Interaction Enhancements

  • Preview Source Snapping:
    • Added a visual indicator for snapping.
    • Snapping now occurs along the entire axis rather than just upon direct contact.
    • Hidden sources no longer trigger snapping.
  • Spinbox Refinements:
    • Fixed intermittent typing blocks and text clipping.
    • Values now commit only after pressing Enter (which no longer closes the window).
    • Shift + Up/Down now allows for faster, multi-step value increments.
    • Improved cursor dragging within the input field.

Hardware Support

  • Arm64: NVENC is now officially enabled for Arm64 architectures.
